Cultivating the Student's Mind, Faith, and Passion

By Sebastian Rugas, SJS-Fullerton Class of 2023

I am Sebastian Rugas, an 8th grade student at St. Joseph School Fullerton, one of the many Catholic Schools under the Archdiocese. If your child already comes to St. Joe's, they might know me as "the weather guy." But I'm not just that; I'm a student like them. Being part of the St. Joe's student body made me realize the school's dedication to supporting all students.

From what I have seen personally, Catholic education is centered around three major core values - cultivating the student's mind, faith, and passion. For the mind because here at St. Joe's, we are challenged to strive for the highest by our excellent teachers. Speaking of our teachers, they know their students like family, and the success of their students is their highest priority.

For faith because all education is centered around Christian values. Our religion class helps all my peers and me to get to know our faith better. And, in all classes, we are reminded of our responsibility to serve God and to be "part of the PACK" in which we Pray, Accept Responsibility, Cooperate, and Keep Trying. For passion because all students have a way of following their call and doing what they want to do. We have a variety of clubs here and so many other ways to serve, so there is something for each and every student to do. I've pursued many opportunities here, like student safety, morning announcements, and the new chess club. I've even gone further and made my way into becoming our school's weatherman! It's truly the best place to foster your passions.

If you want your child to grow their mind, faith, and passion, there is nothing better than coming to a Catholic school like St. Joe's. The transition is easy, and the community here will welcome you with warm, open arms. Maybe you too can proudly don the title of being part of the PACK.
